Be prepared to discuss the following themes for the examples listed below.  You should also be able to identify the artist; title; stylistic elements (with definitions as needed - e.g. chiaroscuro); how it exemplifies its respective time/stylistic period; and how it depicts the theme.
  • Male form: ie….Kouros, Kroisos, Doryphoros, Davids (Donatello, Verrochio, Michelangelo, Bernini), Durer's Adam and Eve, etc….
  • Female form: ie….Willendorf, Aphrodite of Knidos, Birth of Venus, Galatea, Venus of Urbino, etc….
